VIDEO EXPANSION FOR BAKED POTATO V5 (2021). This board has three sections.

Section One: (RGB) - THS7374 video amp. Using the LPF may improve video. The purpose of the THS7374 is to ensure RGB is split without degrading the signal. Also it’s 75 ohm outputs can be removed to interface with a SEGA cable with internal 75ohm series resistors.

Section Two: (NTSC Encoder) This includes S-Video (Y/C) and Composite video (CV) outputs. Uses the BH7236AF. On certain consoles there may be a different clock needed for the BH7236AF this is what “XC” is for. Otherwise set jumper “CJ” (clock jumper). There is one jumper for NTSC cross-color filtering on the BH7236AF it is labeled “NTSC”. There are two PAL jumpers labeled “PAL”. Make sure to set these jumpers before installing this board below the V5 RGB board.

Third Section: This is the “YPBPR” section. It takes RGB that is output from the BH7236AF encoder and mixes for PR and PB (Y is already output from this encoder).

Each section requires the section before it to be populated. Section one requires only itself. Section two requires section one. Section three requires section one and two.

There are four header holes on the bottom middle of the board. These act as a way to ensure SOG or YPbPr jumpers are not set on the V5 board.

If you just want RGB and YPbPr just use the V5 board as normal. If you want RGB and Composite and S-Video then populate sections one and two.

If you want everything then populate everything. It should be noted that PB and PR would be a analog conversion of RGB (vs the V5’s digital) so not as good as V5’s native YPbPr output. If you only want RGB to be buffered by section one (so that you can do a SEGA cable or something) then you can still used V5s native SOG and YPbPr. Otherwise, make sure to not set those jumpers. For one you won’t get video out if you set them; for another that could break something.,

I haven’t tested this yet and there are various reasons I went with this design.
