Breakout board for TalonSRX Motor Controller. Includes optional 0805 resistor (10K) and 0805 schotkky diode pads to support 5V -> 3V level shifting for 5V encoder signals on rev 1.5 and earlier versions (2015 production run) of the motor controller (per the CTRE data sheet Electrical/Mechanical specs, note 2: https://www.ctr-electronics.com/Talon%20SRX%20User’s%20Guide.pdf).

Support for SMD and through hole 0.1" pitch headers. Cutout to allow access to brake/coast cal button.

This is a quick eval board for the pSemi PE4259, a SPDT RF switch. The official eval board is nearly one hundred bucks. That’s a bit much for my tinkering projects, so I decided to build my own version.

R1 and R2 are 1k ohm, R3 is 10k ohm. Square pads are pin 1. PWR-1 is 3.3V, PWR-2 is GND. CTRL-1 is connected to 3.3V, and is connected to RF-6 via R1. CTRL-2 is connected to RF-4 (CTRL) via R2, while R3 provides a pull-down on that same pin.

Traces should be ~50 ohms when using OSHParks 0.8 mm/2oz process.

Uses the “extended” NeoGeo controller pinout to map buttons 5 and 6.

Parts needed:

• Female DSUB15 socket (.318" footprint, forked board locks, #4-40 flush threaded inserts)

Mini PCB for APA106 LEDs with through-hole wire soldering and extra capacitor. Version 2 has increased hole diameters and pads.

Attiny1614-based board. A nice modern replacement for Attiny84.

Pin PA4 (active low) connected to high-side P-MOSFET for powering/driving an external component, using same VIN supply and common GND.

Pin PA5 (active high) connected to low-side N-MOSFET for driving a load using a separate supply (VEXT pin)! Grounds levels will be separate.

Optional pull-up resistors for I2C.

Programming pin (UPDI) connected through a 3.3k resistor to PA0/RESET/UPDI. Push button (6mm) pulls RESET low.

This module offers 16 open drain outputs. It is based on the NPIC6C595 shift register. Many modules can be chained together to increase the number of outputs.

How to use

Use the J1 connector to provide input to the module. J2 connector is meant as an output connector to be connected to an extra chained module- the DO output (J2) is connected to the DI input (J1) of the chained module.

Inputs DI, SHIFT and STORE allow shifting data into the registers. DI - the data input - must be set before creating a pulse on SHIFT input to shift the data value by one bit. Once all bits have been shifted, create a pulse on STORE input to really get all the bits available at ouput.

Input /RESET and /OE may not be connected to a micro-controller, in such a case, resistors R1 and R2 can be used to pull /RESET and /OE signals to +5V and GND respectively (no reset, output enabled).

Outputs can be used to drive LEDs or relays, up to 100mA per output - see NPIC6C595 datasheet.

Connector J3 provides power input. GND is common with GND on J1 and J2. +VL is dispatched to J8-J9.

Resistors R3-R18 can be used to limit output current in case of LED connected between J6-J7 and J8-J9. If no need to use resistors, connectors J4-J5 can be used directly instead of J6-J7.
It is up to you to decide wether you have to use J8-J9 to dispatch +VL to LEDs.

Output power supply

Up to 1.6 amps can be necessary par card on the GND and +VL pins of the input power connector. So use adequate power supply and cables.

+VL can be up to 33V as per datasheet.

Breakout for Three TRRS Jacks (R1)

This board aims to package the circuit into a small footprint using larger, easy to solder SMT packages. In summary, this circuit generates a discrete ~25 kHz square wave, and the duty cycle can be adjusted from 0 to 100% using a potentiometer of your choosing. The board contains a 5 volt regulator for the PWM logic, which is capable of running up to 30 volts. If you wish to use a higher voltage fan (48 volts), you may change the regulator to one with a higher input operating voltage. The logic is 12 volt compatible, but C5 would have to be changed to accomodate the higher voltage. It is currently specified to be a 10 volt capacitor as the logic runs on 5 volts in the configuration seen here.
