Particle Photon RGB Panel Shield V3

The Particle Photon RGB panel shield board is designed to connect a Particle Photon to an RGB Panel to avoid messy wiring. When used with a female 2x8 0.1" spacing header on the BOTTOM of the board, it can be plugged directly into the back of a (larger) RGB Panel. When used with a male shrouded 2x8 connector on TOP of the board, it can be used with the ribbon cable typically supplied with RGB panels.

All spare Photon pins (VBAT, RST, DAC, RX, TX, SDA, SCL) are presented on the board. They can be used with or without male header pins. The power rails (5V, GND and 3V3) are conveniently broken out near the small proto area.

The board can be powered via a 2.1mm x 5.5mm barrel jack or via a 2-terminal screw connector. One configuration is to power via the barrel jack with a readily available 5v supply (eg. Adafruit 1466) and powering the panel via the screw terminals. Or, power from the RGB panel supply (5v) can be applied to the RGB shield via the screw terminals to power the photon. It is NOT recommended to power the RGB panel from the Photon’s USB power source.

The RGBMatrixPanel library may be found in the Particle Web IDE. Be sure to set the RGBSHIELDVERSION to 3 for this board. The library contains several examples for different size RGB matrix panels. The RGBPixelClock library, a fun clock with multiple faces and able to display weather, can also found in the Web IDE.

Resistance-to-frequency converter. Uses a low-power 555 timer to convert skin resistance into a frequency at microphone level. As used by the earliest iteration of the ST VITO performance project.

Uses the microphone bias voltage to power the IC, so no external power is needed.

BitsyLED is a minimal firmware to drive RGB LED’s (WS2811, WS2812, NeoPixels, etc). It’s designed for anything RC but also can be used for other projects including Christmas lights, Lego’s, or even your real car.

This is the BitsyLED board - a small board powering an ATTINY84 that exposes 3 channels on a common RC signal layout (GND, 5V, DATA). The board itself can fit up to 5 range configurations each having 3 strands with 10 Led’s / strand.

The 1.2 board includes SMD pads instead of the drill pads and allows to either directly solder wires to the pads OR use 2.54mm spaced headers. As a convenience the Serial/SPI breakout on the bottom is aligned with the top pads so double row headers can be used.
