Description:

Breakout board for 8-SOIC/EP package. Converts 8-SOIC/EP to breadboard-friendly 0.1-inch pitch by 0.4-inch width through-hole format.

Wide traces on all pins, suitable for use with power packages. For ICs with exposed pad, it is provided, with thermal vias to bottom side copper pour and unmasked copper on bottom side to aid soldering.

The lower-middle through-hole pad is connected to the IC exposed pad; solder a wire in this hole and jumper to appropriate IC pin.

Pins numbered on top side for quick reference and silk screen area on reverse to write part number, pin annotations, etc.

This is intended as a breadboard testing aid only. It will not provide adequate heatsinking to reach datasheet thermal limits, so don’t turn the wick up all the way!

Breakout for Si4362 for building a basic AIS receiver. More on github and 43oh. Errors: Holes for headers are too tight, GPIO 0 and 1 are swapped, pull-down on SDO missing. Fixed in RevB.

power distribution test board iteration 6

This board takes power from a USB port (typically a wall charger). It uses a 904nm IR thru hole LED as a photosensor, and when it detects ‘night’ it starts doing a very very gentle mix of the two LED on the board. I use these with a ping-pong ball as a diffuser, and a blue + red LED. I’ve been using these with DIY PCB for years and I’m always asked to make some by visitors. The board is ‘reversible’ in the USB port, however, you might want to add a piece of tape on the side that is not in use, it depends on how the USB wall charger was assembled. A board to practice surface-mount soldering, the back side is a ground plane to make it more challenging.
