Redesign of the breakout board for ST Microelectronics' VL6180X proximity sensor for breadboarding with Teensy and Arduino. VIN is between 3 and 5.5 V. Sensor uses time of flight to detect absolute distances independent of surface reflectance up to 25 cm away. Can be used to recognize hand gestures for sophisticated touchless micro-controlling. Small package, low cost, and low power usage makes integrating into existing projects, or use as a Teensy 3.1 or Arduino Pro Mini add-on board very attractive. In fact, VIN and GND can be supplied via Teensy GPIO pins by digitalWrite(HIGH) and digitalWrite(LOW) since total current draw is always less than 25 mA for this sensor. Replaced voltage regulator with TI TLV70728, reduced size of passives to 0402, and significantly improved layout.
