This circuit provides a means to cycle the power on a Galaxy’s Edge droid (especially BB-units) to wake them up after they go to sleep (from 5 minutes of inactivity) by briefly tilting the droid upside down.

In testing this circuit, when breaking the power connection to the droid, draws under 1mA of current. When power is connected to the droid, there is virtually no current drawn by this circuit. When the droid is asleep current draw is under 100uA. You could comfortably leave your droid on with this circuit in place and tilt it to wake it up when you want to use it without significant loss of battery life over months.

PCB silkscreen identifies the location of each component. The PCB can be mounted inside the droid wherever convenient as long as the switch is positioned such that it is open (off) when the droid is upright, but closed (on) when the droid is tilted upside down.

• 1 x 0805 1K resistor
• 1 x 0805 10K resistor
• 1 x 0805 100K resistor
• 1 x 0805 0.1uF Capacitor (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD3K15S/)
• 1 x JST-PH 2.0mm pitch Male Connector (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088NFRNZ2/)
• 1 x JST-PH 2.0mm pitch Female Connector
• 1 x SOT23 N-Channel MOSFET rated for at least 2A current (e.g. ZXMN3A01FTA or PMV37ENEAR)
• 1 x SOT23 PNP transistor rated for at least 1A peak current (e.g. BC807 or SS8550)
• 1 x TILT or BALL Switch (e.g. SW-520D or RB435X220)

This PCB is for custom personality chips used in R-series and BB-series droids from Galaxy’s Edge. It utilizes only through-hole components. The memory chip should be a 25-series SPI flash memory chip. Both resistors (R33, R99) are 10Kohm. Capacitor C42 is 0.1uF and C44 should be 10pf.

This PCB is for custom personality chips used in R-series and BB-series droids from Galaxy’s Edge. It accepts SOP-8 package (150-208mil) SPI Flash memory chips. Confirmed working: Puya P25Q80H (SOP-8 150mil), Winbond W25Q16JVSNIQ (SOP-8 150mil), W25Q64JVSIQ (SOP-8 208mil).

Capacitors and resistors are 0805, however 0603 will fit as well. Component values are: R33: 10k, R99: 10k, C42: 0.1uF, C44: 5-15pf
