Simple Boolean Demo

Welcome 2nd grade Market Day participants!

Educational demonstration of Boolean AND and OR functions. Requires 5VDC power supply. Uses a single 74LS01 Quad NAND gate IC with open collector outputs to implement both Boolean functions with a single integrated circuit. Power supply pads (+ and -) spaced to fit breadboard power supply rails. However you can elect to use the power supply pads and power it in any manner you choose (short-circuit protection or fuse required).

3D rendering of assembled board

Component Shopping list

  1. IDC header strip
  2. 74LS01 NAND gate open collector outputs
  3. Resistor network array assortment
  4. LED assortment
  5. Push button switches

Optional Items (if you are new to the electronics hobby and don’t already have)

  1. Highly recommended Solderless breadboard power supply module OR
  2. A fuse or some form of short-circuit protection is required if you are using a battery directly (the power supply above has built-in short-circuit protection) Inline fuse holder assortment
  3. 400 pin solderless breadboard (set of 6)
  4. Temperature-controlled soldering iron
  5. Lead-free solder
