The cutout allows a Teensy 3.2 or 4.0 to be flush with the board yet all the perimeter I/O are easily connected using “U” shaped header pins. The backside I/O of the Teensy are wired to pads on the board so that all 34 I/O can be connected to a keyboard FPC connector with a 1.0, 0.8, or 0.5mm pitch.
