This is a simple mod to convert an original NES gamepad (NES-004 - no other model will work!) to a standard PC Engine (or possibly Turbografx-16) controller.
Bill of materials: - 1 x SN74LS157DR - 4 x [330 ohm, 0805-type SMD resistor] (https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/bourns-inc/CR0805-JW-331ELF/CR0805-JW-331ELFCT-ND/3741018) - 1 x 8-pin mini-DIN cable
Instructions coming soon. You can watch me assemble one at https://youtu.be/WBJLJeFgMNY
I have not tested this with the Turbografx-16, but it looks, to me like you could use this for a TG16 controller by simply using a full size DIN-8 instead of a mini-DIN-8, same pinout. Attempt at your own risk, but let me know if it works.
