This is a simple 2 transistor flashing circuit designed to introduce a child to soldering. Unfortunately the pad sizing and spacing were slightly too small for a first introduction to soldering, but will probably serve well for someone who has soldered a couple of projects and looking for a more challenging project to improve their skills.
Particular areas likely to cause difficulty are soldering Q1 and Q2, where the chance of a solder bridge is high.
BOM
- D1, D2: 5mm Light Emitting Diode
- R1, R4: 470 Ohm 1/4W Resistor
- R2, R3: 22K Ohm 1/4W Resistor
- C1, C2: 30uF Capacitor
- Q1, Q2: 2N2222 Transistor
Note: The flashing speed is currently too fast. This could be improved by increasing the size of R2 and R3, or increasing the size of C1 and C2. Increasing the resistor size is likely to be easier, with 100K likely a reasonable size (testing to follow)
