This is for an n-scale signal bridge allowing four mast with up to six heads of three lights each to be driven by just four i2c wires. The PCB looks like the walkway on the top of the signal bridge. The I/O expander is a PCA9655E with common anode mast. To drive all six heads there is also a PCA0536 I/O expander. For search light signals I like Bivar SMP4-RGY leds. I use an Arduino to interface the i2c to a C/MRI RS-485 data bus and control the logic with JMRI.
